Media Release

Gatineau – February 24, 2016

The Aylmer Health Coop wishes to inform its members and the population of the Aylmer sector and West Quebec that it is launching a call for proposals from doctors and other entities proving complementary services in the fields of health and well-being.

The need for front-line health services and family doctors in this area continues to grow” says Valerie Dufour, President of the Coop. “We are pursuing our efforts to respond to this need by recruiting doctors directly and by offering other entities offering complementary services the opportunity to join them under one roof.”

The Coop is inviting doctors who wish to get closer to their patients in the western section of Gatineau and the area, and new doctors who will be beginning their practice, to consult the Coop on the advantages that the Coop can offer.

At the same time, the invitation is addressed to persons and organizations who would like to offer their services in close proximity to medical professionals.

The Coop intends to consult its members on the options for the future at its annual general meeting in April 2016 in the light of the responses it has received to its call for proposals.

This invitation is also extended to doctors who are interested in bringing their services closer to their patients in this sector by renting office space at our location.

MORATORIUM on requests for membership or reimbursement of shares.

Since September 15, the Aylmer Health Coop is not accepting requests for new memberships until such time as the board of Directors can develop new services for its members.

Due to the financial difficulties that the Coop is facing with the departure of the current team of doctors, any requests for reimbursement will not be acted upon until the financial situation has become more stable. Article 38 of the Law respecting cooperatives requires that we act in this manner in these circumstances.
