Projects and Goals

A Coop Clinic Serving the Community — A “must” read!!! (Updated September 2005)

This article describes the operation of the clinic and the Coop. Listed are the names of all those involved in the achievement that is the Aylmer Health Coop.

 

Improving the technical level

Year 1 (2004)

  • Acquisition of the following equipment :
    • a) pulse oxymeter (used to monitor lung disease cases)

      b) everyday equipment: electronic thermometers, electronic scales, eye and ear examination devices.

      c) blood coagulation monitor (COAGUCHECK).

    • Increasing involvement of Board members and volunteers in the operation of the clinic.

    Year 2 (2005)

    • Development and launching of the perinatology clinic; additional obstetrics services with the arrival of Dr.Lucie Dussault.
    • Participation in a multicultural health project in partnership with Western organizations and Health Canada.
    • Launching of a trainee program involving Bachelor of Science in Nursing students from the Université du Québec en Outaouais.
    • Conference on breast cancer screening.
    • Amendments to the policy on emergency services (See Our Services).

     

    Current Year Projects 2006

    • Develop and launch a women’s health program
    • a) Papanicolaou smear (Pap test)

      b) Contraception: information and prescription of oral contraceptives

      c) Screening of sexually-transmitted and blood-borne diseases

    • Develop and launch a follow-up program for persons with hypertension
    • Develop and launch a follow-up program for diabetics
    • Develop a multicultural project based on the needs of the Latin American population in our community
    • a) Needs analysis

      b) Action plan implementation

    • Free conferences on various health-related themes;
    • Expansion of emergency services and hours of operation consistent with a more extensive ambulatory care centre. (See the new emergency clinic procedure.); establishment of a front-line emergency clinic .
    • Recruitment of four additional physicians.
